PROJECTS
FOOD BAGS
As part of its initiative, Annapurna works to provide food bags to local shelters. Our first project was a partnership with Family Supporting Housing Shelter. We worked with our local market, New Leaf, to create food bags filled with cereal, string cheese, eggs, and apples. In the end, we were able to make 72 food bags and deliver them to the shelter! We will continue providing for the shelter by increasing the number of partnerships with local shelters.
FUNDRAISING
Annapurna advocates for the research and development of sustainable food sourcing for underdeveloped nations. In order to contribute our resources, we fundraise for multiple prominent world hunger foundations such as Action Against Hunger and Oxfam. Through hosting events such as cooking and yoga classes, Annapurna has launched its initiative. Annapurna is fundraising for projects ranging from aiding citizens in Haiti after the devastating earthquake to the people of Madagascar facing drought.
CURRENT PROJECT: SUDAN
Sudan is currently at risk for famine due to the instability of the government and its citizens. Protests and coups have increased instability in the country for the past few weeks, resulting in many impoverished citizens struggling to safely get access to food sources. To combat this, Oxfam began efforts to develop farming plans and build hygiene programs. The Annapurna team jumped in right away, setting up a yoga fundraiser to contribute to Oxfam's efforts in Sudan. Our team set up and worked alongside a local yoga teacher, Diksha, to create a yoga class for the Evergreen community with proceeds going towards the Oxfam project in Sudan. The class has grown to include more members of the Silver Creek community and meets biweekly. Our team works to ensure that the classes continue to fund vital service projects around the world.
